Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 4 tbsp butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Zest of 1/2 orange
- 3 eggs, at room temperature
- 1/3 cup chocolate chips
- 1/3 cup chopped hazelnuts
- Toppings: melted chocolate, chopped hazelnuts, rose petals
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda. Set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the butter and sugars until crumbly. Stir in the vanilla and orange zest.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, then add the chocolate and hazelnuts. The dough will be sticky.
- Shape the dough into a 15-inch long, 3-inch wide log. Dipping your hands in water can help prevent sticking.
- Bake for about 30 minutes. Let cool for an hour.
- Lower the oven temperature to 325°F.
- Slice the cooled log into 1-inch wide cookies. Place them on their sides on the baking sheet.
- Bake for another 15-20 minutes until crisp. Allow to cool.
- Drizzle with dark chocolate and add desired toppings. Enjoy!
