TOP PLACES TO STAY IN SANTA BARBARA
Paraiso Collection, Montecito – Our recent stay was flawless. Each of the six historic homes on the property has been exquisitely reimagined. Think elegant arches, natural textures, curated art, and a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. It's a space that invites relaxation, perfect for enjoying a glass of wine as the sun sets.
Santa Ysidro Ranch, Montecito – This iconic retreat brings you back in time. With its lush gardens and private cottages, it's one of California's most romantic spots. We celebrated a birthday here with dinner at The Stonehouse, which was nothing short of enchanting.
Hotel Californian, Santa Barbara – For those who want to be near downtown, this boutique hotel combines Moorish-inspired architecture with modern touches. Just a short walk from the waterfront, it's perfect for exploring State Street and the Funk Zone.
The Simpson House – This charming bed-and-breakfast is surrounded by beautifully kept English gardens, only a stroll away from Santa Barbara's cultural hub. It features 15 rooms and elegant suites, each equipped with a wood-burning fireplace.
El Capitan – Offering a unique glamping experience, these tents and cabins are located just north of Santa Barbara, right by the beach. For a delicious meal, check out the Canyon Market and Deli, perfect for family trips!

Field + Fort, Summerland – A must-visit for breakfast, this cafe and home shop feels like a European gem. The coffee is superb, the avocado toast is generous, and you can explore their curated collection of ceramics and linens while you wait.
Jeannines – A cozy breakfast spot popular with locals, offering a classic experience at any of their three convenient locations.
D'Angelos – This charming bakery specializes in house-made breads and pastries, complete with sidewalk seating.
Summerland Beach Café – A laid-back, dog-friendly spot ideal for post-beach breakfasts, featuring hearty meals and strong coffee.

Lily's Taquería – A hidden gem for delicious, budget-friendly tacos at the far end of downtown.

The Stonehouse at San Ysidro Ranch – Celebrating a birthday here was unforgettable. Nestled in the hills with blooming gardens, the romantic ambiance and seasonal California cuisine make it a dining destination.
Loquita – Indulge in Spanish-style tapas and craft cocktails in a vibrant, stylish setting downtown. The paella and patatas bravas are must-tries.
The Boathouse – Enjoy upscale seafood and brunch at Hendry's Beach, complete with stunning ocean views.
Bettina, Montecito – A contemporary pizzeria beloved for its wood-fired pizzas, fresh salads, and natural wines. Arrive early for patio seating that's both casual and stylish.
Flor de Maiz – A coastal favorite showcasing Oaxacan cuisine with a modern twist. Enjoy handmade tortillas, mezcal cocktails, and dishes like mole negro that highlight local ingredients. It's vibrant and perfect for sunset views.

SANTA BARBARA'S BEST BEACHES
Ledbetter Beach – Ideal for beginner surfers, my husband took his first lesson here! Enjoy picnic tables and grills for a relaxed cookout vibe.
Hendry's Beach – A dog-friendly destination with an easy walk to The Boathouse, it's a favorite among locals.
Butterfly Beach – A popular spot on sunny days, parking can be tricky. Bring a picnic to enjoy as amenities are limited.
ACTIVITIES IN SANTA BARBARA
Ganna Walksa's Lotusland – A stunning botanical garden offering private tours in spring and summer.
The Funk Zone – This vibrant area near the pier is packed with wine tasting rooms and outdoor dining options, perfect for exploring local wineries.

The Mission – Established in 1786, this historic site features a beautiful church and grounds with 17th-century art and lovely gardens.

Every time I return from Santa Barbara, I feel rejuvenated. Whether it's the invigorating ocean air, the design inspiration around every corner, or the tranquil pace of life, it always leaves me refreshed.
Santa Barbara has a unique ability to offer exactly what you didn't know you needed, be it a creative retreat, a romantic getaway, or a wellness escape.
