Like many, I'm focused on setting goals as we approach the new year. Amidst holiday festivities, I've been quietly taking steps toward achieving my dream life. With journaling, healthy habits, and manifestation practices, my aspirations are beginning to feel attainable.

If you've spent any time online this past year, you know manifestation is trending. Initially, it seemed like an excuse for hard work, but as I explored various techniques, I realized it's crucial for personal growth.

Your Guide to Manifesting Your Best Life

To dive deeper into manifestation, I spoke with Victoria Jackson, a certified mindset coach and the author of Manifesting For Beginners. She shares her journey, the history of manifestation, and practical techniques to incorporate into your life. Plus, stick around for recommended journals to aid your journey.

Victoria Jackson

Victoria is a certified mindset coach and EFT practitioner, creator of The Manifestation Collective, which supports individuals in crafting a life they love through a mix of spirituality, strategy, and science.

The Roots of Manifestation

While manifestation is a popular term on social media, the concept has existed for centuries. The phrase 'law of attraction' first appeared in the 1870s thanks to Russian philosopher Helena Blavatsky, who discussed the bond between thoughts and outcomes. The New Thought movement of the 19th century, along with earlier religious ideologies, suggested that our output shapes our reality.

In the 20th century, influential figures like Napoleon Hill, Norman Vincent Peale, and Louise Hay expanded on these ideas. However, Rhonda Byrne's The Secret brought manifestation into mainstream awareness, inspiring many to explore positive thinking. Oprah and Jim Carrey have shared their success stories, with Carrey famously writing a $10 million check to himself, which he eventually received.

Victoria's Manifestation Journey

Victoria encountered manifestation in 2015 while editing a men's fashion magazine. Despite reaching career milestones, she felt unfulfilled and burned out. Initially skeptical, she turned to The Secret but gradually embraced the practice, incorporating daily gratitude and positive thinking into her life.

Surely, life just happens to us, and we can't control it, right?

Determined to shift her perspective, she focused on positivity during her commutes, which led to serendipitous experiences, including small financial gains and dream travels. Over time, she manifested significant wins, including a book deal, by shifting her mindset.

Trusting the Process of Manifestation

It's common to doubt the effectiveness of manifestation as I once did. The idea that we can simply request something from the universe feels unrealistic. However, true manifestation involves co-creating your life, which may require navigating challenges and learning lessons along the way.

True success is about becoming the person you wish to be first.

I recommend starting small—ask to see a feather or visualize a minor financial gain. Even if you're skeptical, adopting a positive mindset can transform your daily experiences.

What to Expect from 1:1 Manifestation Sessions

In my coaching sessions, I focus on identifying the blocks preventing individuals from manifesting their desires. To attract what you want, you must embody that version of yourself. For instance, if you aim to start a business, you should take actionable steps toward that goal.

While personal coaching is a valuable investment, I also offer an affordable monthly membership that integrates manifestation practices into daily life, featuring goal-setting sessions, Full Moon circles, and more.

Starting Your Manifestation Journey

Besides reading Manifesting For Beginners, clarify your vision for your life. Too often, we live according to others' expectations. Focus on crafting a life that feels right for you.

Consider these journal prompts:

  • What does my ideal day look like?
  • Where do I envision living?
  • Who do I want in my life?
  • If I had no limitations, what would I pursue?
  • How do I want my life to feel?

Once you define your desires in various aspects of life, create a vision board. Use magazines or a Pinterest board to visualize your goals. Instead of mindlessly scrolling through social media, engage with your vision board, allowing your focus to shift toward what you want to attract.

Prioritizing your dreams will lead to opportunities aligning in your favor. While it may take time, aligning your desires with your authentic self will eventually make your vision a reality.

Effective Manifestation Techniques to Try

Visualization

Visualization is essential for manifestation. Begin by closing your eyes and envisioning what you want to manifest—perhaps it's your soulmate. Daydream about your feelings, experiences, and the connection you'll share. Allow yourself to immerse in that energy. Spend a few moments each day visualizing, especially in the morning or before sleep.

The Law of Attraction

Next, take inspired action aligned with the law of attraction. When an idea strikes—like discussing a new position at work—trust that intuition. These impulses are often messages from the universe. Follow them and see where they lead.
