In her recent chat with Camille (featured in our current issue), Chloé shares her unique perspective on hosting and entertaining. We were eager to learn how she crafts beautiful gatherings focused more on authenticity than on formality. Below, she opens up about her process.

What inspires your food philosophy?
My approach intertwines creativity, exploration, and curiosity. Collaborating with talented chefs as a food photographer helped me see not just the aesthetic of a dish but also its essence. I enjoy discovering fresh ingredients and drawing ideas from my travels.

How did your personal brand and cookbook evolve?
My journey began during the pandemic when I had to step away from my full-time food photography role due to restrictions. I embraced social media to discover my unique style, and in 2021, I started sharing my recipes. My passion for plant-based dishes infused with a French Mediterranean flair quickly became clear. My cookbook encapsulates this journey, showcasing my style and philosophy centered around simplicity.

I found my apartment while browsing Streeteasy, just like many New Yorkers do. I had a clear vision for my new place, and as soon as I saw it, I knew it was the one. I’ve been adding personal touches to make it feel like home, and my favorite area is definitely the kitchen, even though it's still evolving. Its open layout is perfect for hosting friends and family.

What does a perfect gathering mean to you?
A wonderful gathering transcends just a meal. I enjoy welcoming friends and family, creating a table that feels warm and inviting. Soft lighting, candles, good music, and delightful dishes foster conversations that range from playful stories to meaningful discussions. Every moment is special, making ordinary evenings into cherished memories.
Describe a typical day for you—what's your routine?
I usually wake up around 6:30 AM and start with Pilates—it's essential for my morning. Afterward, I treat myself to a matcha latte with oat milk. My days vary; sometimes, I tackle admin tasks, while other days, I might shoot a new recipe or embark on an adventure. I prefer comfortable yet stylish outfits.
Evenings are for unwinding. Whether I'm trying a new recipe, enjoying a show with my partner, or dining with friends, I cherish this time to relax and recharge.
What three table items do you adore, and why?
Linen napkins are a must for their soft, elegant texture. I love handmade ceramics, each piece unique, thanks to my mom’s craft as a ceramicist. Lastly, elegant candlesticks create a refined atmosphere, enhancing any dining experience.

What cookbooks inspire you?
I cherish a few cookbooks, particularly French Country Cooking by Mimi Thorisson for its inspiring take on French cooking and visual presentation. I also appreciate At My Italian Table by Laura Vitale, which feels warm and inviting. These books aren't strictly plant-based, allowing me the freedom to adapt recipes creatively.
What’s always in your fridge?
My fridge is stocked with colorful seasonal veggies, fresh herbs, a block of tofu, a jar of mustard, and oat milk for my morning matcha. Plus, a few leftovers are always around.
Your signature dishes for gatherings?
I love making any galette or tart. My Asparagus, Peas, and Pesto Tart from my cookbook is a favorite and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. It’s simple yet packed with flavor.
Your go-to weeknight meal?
I’m a creature of habit, often preparing a noodle stir-fry with peanut sauce weekly. I never tire of it; it’s simply delicious.

One tip for hosting on a budget?
Simplify your menu by creating an apéro-style spread. Choose easy, bite-sized appetizers made from fresh, budget-friendly ingredients. This minimizes costs and time in the kitchen, allowing you to be present with your guests while they enjoy hassle-free bites.
Your favorite conversation starter?
I love asking, “What’s the story behind your favorite meal?” It invites people to share personal experiences, creating authentic connections through the universal language of food.
What’s on your ideal dinner party playlist?
It features French music, jazz, or bossa nova. I curate playlists for different moments, including one for cooking, another perfect for hosting, and a jazzy dinner soundtrack.

Best centerpiece idea?
I enjoy arranging seasonal flowers in a vintage vase—simple, natural, and effortlessly beautiful. This detail adds a touch of nature and intimacy to any table.
Your no-stress party rule?
Stay authentic. When your true self shines through in your food, décor, and conversation, everything flows naturally. Authenticity is key for memorable, enjoyable gatherings.
