My quest for the ideal natural deodorant for women has spanned several years. At a previous job, I made my coworkers endure a five-day natural deodorant challenge. While the results were mixed—some were not pleased with the funky smells—we did discover a few standouts, including Schmidt’s and White Rock Soap Gallery’s Activated Charcoal Deodorant.

Fast forward to today, and the market is saturated with brands vying to create the perfect natural deodorant. Although studies have not conclusively linked aluminum to serious health concerns, the allure of a clean pit microbiome—free from blockages and harmful chemicals—remains a significant draw.

Recently, I asked coworkers to share their own experiences and decided to try a range of trending natural deodorants over the past few weeks. With the Texas heat as my backdrop, I truly put these products to the test. May the freshness accompany you!

The Best Natural Deodorants for Women

For several weeks, I put some of the hottest natural deodorants of 2025 to the test during sweaty Corepower Yoga sessions, while moving boxes in the sweltering heat, and during long hours at my desk. Here's how they fared, starting with my top choice.

Best Overall: Nécessaire The Deodorant Gel

This deodorant gel is a refreshing standout. With a crisp eucalyptus aroma, it energizes you for the day ahead. It dries quickly, leaving no sticky residue behind, and its sleek, minimalist design is a perfect fit for any vanity. Even after a busy day and a quick Pilates class, I felt fresh without needing to reapply.

What I Love: The gel's lightweight texture glides on effortlessly and absorbs rapidly. Packed with hyaluronic acid and glycerin, it hydrates while probiotics promote a balanced skin microbiome. Plus, it's free of aluminum, making it gentle on sensitive skin.

What I Don't Love: While the scent is delightful, it may diminish faster than anticipated on hot days. If you’re switching to natural deodorants, your body might need some time to adjust.

This deodorant is a sophisticated addition to any natural skincare routine, combining efficacy with thoughtful ingredients and a subtle scent.

Best Scent: Salt & Stone Deodorant

This pick easily secured the second spot. It dries fast, offers a pleasant earthy scent, and features attractive packaging. It also stood strong during intense workouts. However, I experienced some itchiness and dampness after application.

What I Love: Known for its captivating aromas, Salt & Stone’s deodorant didn’t disappoint. I appreciate its inclusion of probiotics and hyaluronic acid for maintaining a healthy armpit microbiome.

What I Don't Love: Unfortunately, it didn’t perform as well against irritation as I hoped. Still, it ranks among the best natural deodorants I've tried.

Best Spray: By Rosie Jane Wake the F*ck Up Deodorant

As a fan of By Rosie Jane’s clean fragrances, I was thrilled to see the brand’s transparency extend to this natural deodorant. I chose the refreshing “Wake the F*ck Up” scent, featuring lemon verbena and eucalyptus, housed in a beautiful glass bottle for $15. (Refills are available on the By Rosie Jane website.)

I prefer my deodorant to be dry upon application, and this spray dried quickly while leaving a pleasant essential oil fragrance. You’ll need to reapply throughout the day, which is manageable if you’re desk-bound or less active. It also helps soothe some itchiness, likely thanks to glycerin and organic aloe vera.

In summary, it's a lovely natural option for less active days.

What I Love: The aromatic blend of essential oils helped ease some pre-existing itchiness.

What I Don't Love: Frequent reapplication is necessary to maintain the scent, and it’s not ideal for high-intensity activities.

Best Budget: Crystal Magnesium Enriched Deodorant

This option was just decent. I docked points for the rough feel upon application. While it didn’t irritate my skin as much as I feared, I still didn’t feel as secure against odors compared to my favorites.

What I Love: The affordability. Crystal has a competitive price point, and the lavender scent is lovely.

What I Don't Love: The application can be a bit uncomfortable.

Best Application: Ursa Major Hoppin’ Fresh Deodorant

I had high expectations for Ursa Major due to its kaolin clay, but after testing it on a demanding workday, I was disappointed to find myself smelling less than fresh by afternoon. This option also left significant white streaks.

What I Love: The initial scent and feel are fantastic.

What I Don't Love: It left my underarms feeling damp and irritated, potentially due to the baking soda in the formula.

Athena Club Grapefruit Spritz All Day Deo

What I Love: The cute packaging and the bright, summery scent. Plus, it lasts all day. I’ve put my partner through numerous natural deodorant tests, but this was the first one where he remarked, “Wow, you actually smell great.” I appreciate that it’s plant-based, cruelty-free, and leaves no white residue.

What I Don't Love: While it's effective for daily wear, I prefer something stronger for longer outdoor activities. I haven't found a natural deodorant that meets that need yet, but this one works wonderfully for workdays. — Isabelle, Managing Editor

Primally Pure Lavender Deodorant

What I Love: This deodorant is fantastic! The scent is lovely yet subtle, and it really works. Made with tallow from grass-fed cows, the lavender essential oil helps soothe irritation from ingrown hairs. It’s both calming and effective.

What I Don't Love: In the summer, I occasionally need to reapply before outdoor activities, but in winter, one application is sufficient—though our dry Colorado climate plays a role. — Edie, Wellness Editor
