The morning rituals bring immense comfort: a splash of water on my face, the aroma of brewing coffee, and gentle sunlight streaming through my window. These moments create a sense of peace, regardless of what lies ahead.
I started building my morning routine during my college years, finding stability amidst constant changes in my life. While everything else felt uncertain, these rituals kept me connected to myself. This foundation was my first step toward embracing wellness, and my morning practices have evolved into essential elements of my personal growth journey.
I’ve often shared insights on visualizing my yearly goals and how to achieve them. My morning routine plays a crucial role in making those aspirations a reality. Small, consistent actions lead to significant changes over time.
Focus on What Matters
When asked how I manage my day, I candidly admit—I don’t! As a mom who runs two businesses, I juggle a lot. Productivity often emphasizes doing more, but my focus is on doing less—while prioritizing what truly matters.
Given that unforeseen events can derail our best intentions (a meeting runs long, a sick child, errands take longer than planned), mornings are the perfect opportunity to clarify our priorities for the day. This simple step is vital for designing the life we desire.

My Morning Rituals
Creating a morning routine has been pivotal in my personal development, giving structure and purpose to each day. Over time, I’ve tailored my rituals to support my goals and overall well-being. Here’s a look at my current practices:
6:00 am – Rise and Rehydrate
I wake up at 6:00 am, immediately hydrating with a full glass of water mixed with electrolytes to revive my body after sleeping. I prefer LMNT electrolytes; they significantly enhance hydration and energize me right away. They’ve truly transformed how I feel each morning.

I also check my Oura ring for insights on my sleep quality, including deep and REM sleep, to assess my recovery.
6:05 am – Skincare Routine
A splash of cold water wakes me up and reduces puffiness. My skincare routine is simple: cleanse, apply a resurfacing treatment, serum, and moisturizer. I’ve linked all the products I use here. This process not only revitalizes my skin but also serves as a calming start to my day.

6:10 am – Brew Coffee
I head to the kitchen, where I’ve prepped the coffee maker the night before. While it brews, I feed our cat Clem and prepare my AG1, a staple in my morning for years. It simplifies my supplement intake, combining 75 whole food nutrients, probiotics, prebiotics, and adaptogens into one delicious drink.

6:20 am – Meditate, Write, Read
I settle into my cozy spot with my iPad for journaling, headphones, and my current book. I grab my Solstice Mug and get comfortable—this is my favorite time of day.
After putting in my air pods and playing soothing music, I take deep breaths to center myself. I spend a few minutes in prayer and read a devotional to prepare mentally for the day. I often jot down a quote or thought to reflect on.
I love using my iPad for journaling since it allows for both handwriting and typing. I utilize the Evernote app for its searchability—even my handwritten notes can be found later, which is helpful for revisiting ideas.
My journaling includes creative writing, prayer, and reflections from the previous day. If I face writer’s block, I just start writing—anything—to spark inspiration.

6:40 am – Goal Review
Next, I pull out my Vision Workbook to revisit my yearly goals across different areas of life. This daily affirmation helps ensure my actions align with my broader vision, keeping me focused on what truly matters.
6:50 am – Calendar Alignment
This brief step can significantly impact my entire day.
Since how we allocate our time reflects our priorities, shouldn’t we be intentional about how we spend our hours?
After reflecting on my goals, I assess my calendar to ensure it’s balanced and not overly skewed toward one area, like work, at the expense of others, such as health or family.
For instance, if I aim to be a better listener to my kids, I can identify time slots in my calendar for focused conversations. If I plan to do pilates twice a week, I can check if it’s scheduled and if not, make adjustments. It’s essential to say “no” sometimes to prioritize what’s important.
Life is hectic, and I need to be intentional about carving out time for what matters or risk losing it in the chaos.

6:55 am – Daily Priorities
The last part of my morning routine is writing down the three key tasks I need to accomplish that day. These can be related to work or personal matters but must align with my overarching goals to ensure progress.
I typically jot these in my journal and keep a notepad on my desk for easy visibility throughout the day.
On those days when it feels like I’m just busy without achieving anything, finishing my top three tasks allows me to feel accomplished, knowing I focused on what truly matters.

7:00 am – Family Time
It’s time to wake the kids, and the rush begins to get everyone ready for school. Waking up early allows me to focus on my routine, ensuring I’m present with my children when they wake up.
Additionally, here’s an important takeaway from my morning routine:
Establish good habits, but don’t cling to them too rigidly. Life can be unpredictable, and it’s wiser to adapt than resist.
If you have young children or responsibilities that can disrupt your mornings, remember to be kind to yourself—it’s just a season.
