In recent days, it's been heart-wrenching to see friends in LA share images of neighborhoods engulfed in flames, emergency evacuations, and the tragic loss of homes. This disaster is unprecedented; in mere hours, countless lives have been completely disrupted as everything familiar has turned to ash—homes, schools, and entire communities have been devastated, leaving families without shelter.
As evacuation notices spread, tens of thousands sought refuge. Many fled on foot with their essential belongings and pets, as roads became impassable. The Los Angeles County Fire Chief has stated that the resources available are inadequate for this extensive crisis. The 29 departments were simply “not prepared for this scale of disaster.”
We appreciate everyone reaching out to see how we are doing; fortunately, the fires are still a few miles from our home. However, the helplessness of witnessing this destruction from afar is overwhelming—a sentiment many share. Right now, we can assist by praying for those in danger, checking in with affected loved ones, and contributing financially if possible.
