Gut health is trending, and many are realizing the connection between a grain-free diet and digestive wellness. It’s understandable to feel overwhelmed with nutrition guidance. After all, figuring out what works for your body often involves some trial and error.
Reasons to Ditch Grains
Grains aren’t inherently “bad,” but we should focus on how different foods affect our bodies. Personally, I aim to eat in a way that enhances my health, and for many, grains can be tough on digestion.
For a deeper dive, I wrote about the impact of eliminating grains. To sum it up: once I cut grains from my diet, my chronic digestive issues disappeared. Dr. William Davis, in his book Super Gut, notes:
“Eliminating wheat and grains reduces intestinal inflammation and initiates the healing of your digestive system.”
What Does Grain-Free Mean?
A grain-free diet goes beyond just avoiding gluten; it includes cutting out corn, oats, quinoa, rice, buckwheat, rye, amaranth, and barley. Many popular diets like paleo, Whole30, and keto remove grains due to their inflammatory effects and potential to spike blood sugar levels.
Last month, I shared my sample grain-free meal plan. Now, I’m excited to offer more delicious grain-free recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. Keep reading, and if you try any, please leave a comment!
