When I was around seven, I experienced pure happiness. My aunt was coming over for dinner, and then my mom revealed we were having pizza. My favorite aunt and my favorite food? It was a dream come true. This memory captures the joy I still feel about pizza today.

Growing up, I enjoyed classics like Pizza Hut and Papa John's. But now, as my tastes have evolved, I appreciate the artistry of a well-made pizza. From Neapolitan to New York style, I love them all.

Many dough recipes require overnight resting, but who has that kind of time? If you're busy, go for a good pre-made dough. I love the dough from Whole Foods—it's packed with flavor and reliable. Just remember to let it warm up to room temperature for easier handling.

I often debate whether to whip up my sauce or grab a quality jar from the store. Both options are great, but making it from scratch is simple. If you choose to do so, make it earlier in the day and let it simmer to enhance the flavors!

Using shredded, low-moisture mozzarella gives that classic pizza flavor. A sprinkle of shredded parmesan adds the finishing touch that elevates it.

This pizza cooks quickly. Once it's out of the oven, I drizzle olive oil on the crust for extra flavor.

Parchment paper is a lifesaver. Ever tried removing a pizza from a sheet pan? It's tricky! While you can do it without parchment, it's much easier when the pizza isn't stuck to the pan. Plus, it makes cleanup a breeze!

This sheet pan pizza is incredibly simple and utterly delicious, making it a fantastic choice for a weeknight meal. Enjoy!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • Pre-made pizza dough (at room temperature)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
  • Package of pepperoni
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (roughly chopped)
  • 1/2 green bell pepper (thinly sliced)
  • 1 bunch of basil leaves
  • Olive oil

For the pizza sauce:

  • 1 6-ounce can of tomato paste
  • 1 15-ounce can of tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • Kosher salt & freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Combine all pizza sauce ingredients in a bowl. *This makes enough for two pizzas, so feel free to save half for later or make a double batch!
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Remove the dough from its packaging and place it on a floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle.
  4. Brush about 3 tablespoons of olive oil onto the parchment paper and lay the dough on top.
  5. Spread the sauce over the dough, leaving about 3/4" of crust around the edges.
  6. Layer shredded mozzarella and add your toppings.
  7. Add a final sprinkle of mozzarella and top with parmesan.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling. *Turn on the broiler for the last minute to help the cheese melt.
  9. Take the pizza out and drizzle olive oil and torn basil on top.
  10. Allow a few minutes to cool, then slice and enjoy!
