There's something truly inspiring about those who chart their own course, like Tieghan Gerard, the force behind Half-Baked Harvest. I first encountered Tieghan in 2017, and since then, she’s built a brand that embodies her love for cooking. From her transformed barn in the Colorado mountains, she creates recipes that radiate warmth and comfort. Wearing many hats as a recipe developer, stylist, photographer, and storyteller, Tieghan shares fresh recipes almost daily, attracting millions who seek inspiration from her work.
Before the release of her fourth cookbook, Quick & Cozy, I had the pleasure of co-hosting a holiday dinner in Austin with her. The evening was filled with joy—friends gathered around a beautifully candlelit table, enjoying festive dishes from her upcoming book.
In a recent issue of a lifestyle magazine, we discussed her unique journey—from establishing her career to navigating challenges on social media. Keep reading for Tieghan’s essential tips for creating a cozy holiday gathering.

What influences your culinary style?
Emphasizing simplicity is key, but it should always be aesthetically pleasing and tasty.
Describe a typical workday.
It varies. While traveling, I’m busy with interviews, shoots, and meet-and-greets, often juggling calls while getting ready for an event. It’s exhilarating but hectic. At home, my day flips completely. I spend hours in the kitchen, cooking, testing, and capturing content. I focus deeply on creativity, limiting calls to maintain my concentration. Evenings are for emails, blog writing, and photo editing.

What’s an essential cooking tool for you?
It might sound amusing, but a cookie scoop is invaluable. I use it for everything from meatballs to muffin batter. A good cast iron skillet is also a must—it's easy to clean and healthier to use.

What three items do you love for a table setting?
- Candles. They instantly elevate any table setting, creating a cozy atmosphere. Use a few tall taper candles or multiple shorter ones for a warm glow.
- A beautiful centerpiece bowl. Fill it with seasonal fruits like pomegranates in fall or acorns from outside, whatever you can find.
- Food as decor. I prefer a minimal table setup, but showcasing a gorgeous cheese board adds a touch of abundance.

What does an ideal gathering look like?
Picture a warm fire crackling, soft music in the background, and candles lighting up the room. There are flowers and the aroma of delicious food simmering away. It’s all about creating a relaxing and inviting atmosphere.
What’s on your perfect dinner party playlist?
Soft, relaxing tunes work best. I love classical music, and my grandma used to play Frank Sinatra, which I enjoy during the holidays.

Your go-to dishes for gatherings?
My new cookbook features delightful recipes perfect for gatherings, including a fantastic brisket that’s ideal for Christmas Eve. The meatballs featured on the cover are also a hit. There are options for ground chicken as a substitute for those who don’t eat red meat, making it easy to adapt recipes for various tastes.
What’s your top tip for stress-free entertaining?
Prepare the dinner table the night before and choose a menu that allows for prep in advance—slow cooker recipes are a lifesaver. Keep it uncomplicated.

Who are your dream dinner guests?
Victoria Beckham is high on my list—I'm captivated by her designs. And of course, David would have to join, along with their son Brooklyn, who recently launched a hot sauce brand. So, I’d invite the whole Beckham family!
