When it comes to dessert, I'm definitely someone who prefers indulging rather than whipping up sweets myself. The precision needed in baking, the many steps in recipes, and the inability to improvise often lead me to choose ready-made treats or simply enjoy a big scoop of ice cream.
Meet my new favorite cookie, easily made in one bowl and enjoyed straight from the skillet.
During my recipe testing, I was thrilled to discover that I had all the ingredients on hand to make this skillet cookie. If a casual weekend baker like me can do it, I bet most of you are just a few steps away from a warm, chocolatey delight topped with ice cream!

What really appeals to me about this dessert is how everything is mixed in one bowl and baked in the same skillet. Fewer dishes mean less cleanup, which is always a win!
If you enjoy cozying up on a Friday night with a sweet treat and a movie, this dessert is just what you need. It's also a fantastic option for date night, with customizable toppings! Imagine adding pretzels, peanuts, or caramel—delicious!

Here are a few recipe tips:
When you add butter to your mixing bowl, save the wrappers to grease the skillet. This is a handy way to prepare your pan, and I never toss the wrappers until I'm done baking!
Have you watched a professional measure flour? They fluff it up, scoop, and level it off, which is exactly what I did.
If you like a firmer cookie for slicing, let it cool completely before serving. For a gooey version, serve it warm with a scoop of ice cream right away!
Don't skip the flakey salt sprinkle on top; it's a must! There's a reason salted chocolate chip cookies taste so much better.

Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1 cup softened butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup chocolate chunks, divided
- 3/4 cup chocolate candies, divided (1/2 cup and 1/4 cup)
- Toppings: Extra chocolate chunks, chocolate candies, flakey sea salt, and your choice of ice cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a stand mixer, combine the butter, brown sugar, and salt, mixing until well blended. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
- Add the vanilla and eggs, mixing until fully combined. Scrape the bowl again.
- Mix in 1 cup of flour with the wet ingredients. Then, add the second cup of flour and the baking soda, mixing until combined.
- Fold in 1/4 cup of chocolate chunks and 1/2 cup of chocolate candies until evenly distributed. The batter will be thick.
- Grease a 12-inch skillet with butter wrappers, add the batter, and spread it evenly. Bake for 28 to 30 minutes until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Once out of the oven, top with extra chocolate and candies, then sprinkle with flakey sea salt. Serve warm directly from the skillet or let it cool for slicing.
- Enjoy!
